Consistent with our commitment to keep you updated on the most important developments, we outline below information regarding the latest action of the Personal Data Protection Authority (Greek DPA) regarding websites cookies.

According to a press release issued by the Authority, several websites were found to be non-compliant in terms of how to obtain consent for downloading trackers.

The Authority audited 30 websites by sending documents and setting a deadline of 15 days for their compliance.

Through its Press Release, the Authority calls on all websites to adapt immediately to Recommendations 1/2020, noting that it continues to monitor the issue of the use of trackers on the Internet and to exercise its oversight responsibilities in this area.

It is recalled that in February 2020 the Authority issued its Recommendations 1/2020 on "Compliance of data controllers with the specific legislation on electronic communications" in the form of Dos & Don'ts in order to provide practical guidance to controllers and to inform users of Greek websites.
